✨Fire Restoration: Rebuilding After the Unexpected

A fire can leave behind more than visible damage. It can leave a family feeling overwhelmed — facing repairs, decisions, insurance questions, and the weight of figuring out where to begin.

This project was a reminder of why restoration work matters. What started as a damaged home in need of repair became a restored home with a fresh look, new siding, new windows, repaired exterior details, and a renewed sense of safety and stability for the family who calls this place home.

At Legacy Mountain Builders, we understand that fire restoration is not just about fixing what was damaged. It is about helping families move forward with confidence, care, and quality workmanship.

We also know that navigating an insurance claim after a fire can feel confusing and stressful. While every policy and claim is different, our team can help walk alongside homeowners through the restoration process — documenting damage, communicating clearly, providing detailed estimates, and helping make the rebuilding process feel less overwhelming.

Our role is not to chase a claim or push for more than what is needed. Our role is to help explain the construction side of the restoration process so families can make informed decisions and make the most of the coverage available to them.

We have had the opportunity to help other homeowners in our area walk through insurance-related restoration projects, and many have shared how thankful they were to have an experienced ally beside them during such a difficult process — someone who could help bring clarity, answer questions, and advocate for the repair work their home truly needed.

From assessing the damage to rebuilding the details that make a house feel safe, sound, and like home again, we are thankful for the opportunity to come alongside families during difficult seasons. 😄 How I Earned My Jobsite Bragging Rights

Every part of Legacy Mountain Builders is carried by a team — from the materials ordered and picked up, the subcontractors coordinated, the safety talks given, the jobsite problems solved, and the hands-on craftsmanship done each day, to the estimates, client communication, community outreach, team newsletters, events, Facebook posts, and bigger-picture direction of the company. We are deeply thankful for our Legacy Mountain Builders team who helps make this work possible. But at the center of our story are two people who have been connected to construction, family, and building something together for a very long time.

Josh and I met in youth group in Minnesota when we were 17 years old. We’ve now been married 23 years — which is impressive considering I’m only 26. The math works, trust me. 😉

We have two amazing children, and construction has been part of our story since the very beginning.

Long before Legacy Mountain Builders and before we were married, Josh was already working in construction. In the early years of our marriage, we actually worked for the same builder — Josh leading the crew, and me working behind the scenes in administration.

I wrote all the paychecks back then… even Josh’s.

I even worked on the crew a few times, which gave me just enough experience to appreciate the work — and just enough wisdom to return to the office.

Although, I do have one very important set of jobsite bragging rights.

One Friday at the end of the workday, Josh, the other guys, and I were standing around talking before heading home for the weekend. We were watching a D5 dozer do final grade right up next to the house, and the guys were all talking about how much they’d love to drive it.

So naturally, I said, “I bet he’ll let ME drive it.”

And sure enough… he did.

Now, I would love to tell you I climbed on that thing like a natural and started grading like I’d been doing it my whole life. But the truth is, I was sitting there in a very powerful machine, very close to a very beautiful new home, suddenly feeling like maybe this was not the moment to discover my hidden heavy-equipment talents.

So I drove it just long enough to secure the bragging rights — and cautiously enough that Josh didn’t have to start pricing repairs.

The guys can have years of jobsite experience. I’ll take the one-time dozer victory and carry it proudly back to the office. 😉

Over the years, our roles have looked different, but the heart behind the work has stayed the same: to build with care, serve families well, and do work we can stand behind.

Legacy Mountain Builders is more than a construction company to us. It is something we are building with faith, grit, patience, and a desire to serve our community well.

We’re thankful for every family who trusts us, every team member and subcontractor who helps carry the work forward, and every opportunity we have to build something that lasts — even if Stefanie isn’t the one doing the final grade on your project. 😉

A Quiet Day of Remembrance

Today, we pause with gratitude for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a day to remember the cost of freedom — the families who carry that loss, the communities shaped by sacrifice, and the legacy left behind by those who did not return home.

At Legacy Mountain Builders, the word legacy matters to us. Today, it reminds us that the greatest legacies are not made of materials, but of courage, sacrifice, and love faithfully given in service to our country.

🌿✨ ORGANIC MOVEMENT ✨🌿

One of the things we think carefully about when designing a home is not just where the windows go — but how the home will capture light throughout the day.

At Shiloh Ridge, this great room spans two stories with large windows pulling in natural light from both the north and the west. That means the space is constantly changing as the day moves on.

North light tends to cast cooler blue-gray tones, creating a softer, calmer feel. West-facing light brings in warmer golden and amber tones later in the day as the sun lowers. When those lighting conditions shift hour by hour, wall colors and finishes can completely change with them.

That’s one reason selecting finishes for a space like this can be surprisingly difficult. Some paints pull too yellow, too pink, too gray, or feel harsh as the light changes throughout the day.

For this space, we used Cashmere Limewash by Epodex over a hand-applied artisan plaster finish to create a softer, more organic feel that works with the changing light instead of fighting against it.

As the light moves across the room, the finish subtly shifts with it — creating depth, warmth, and a calm spa-like atmosphere that feels different morning to evening without losing its softness.

It’s one of those details that’s difficult to fully capture in photos, but completely changes how a space feels in person.
