Peabody is holding two community information sessions in Moranbah on the Centurion North Development project, as part of the project’s Social Impact Assessment. The project would extend Centurion Mine’s operations in the Bowen Basin, delivering more than 25 years of continued steelmaking coal production and securing jobs. Community members are invited to drop in, ask questions and share their views on what the project could mean for Moranbah and the Isaac Region.

Congratulations to Peabody's environmental team for receiving the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) National Award for Excellence in Reclamation, the highest honor in this field, for their work at the former Seneca II West Mine in Colorado. Peabody proudly welcomed the families of our Wilpinjong Mine team for Family Day recently, offering a first-hand look at the mine and the people, equipment and teamwork that keep it operating safely. The day celebrated the Peabody values of safety, integrity, operational excellence and courageous leadership, the strong connection between the operation and the Mid-Western community in NSW and 20 years of Peabody being part of the Wilpinjong story.

Wilpinjong Mine team members were please to host a stall at last week's NRL match in Mudgee between the Penrith Panthers and Canberra Raiders, sharing information on plans to responsibly mine thermal coal through to 2038. The mine, located near Mudgee, supports a 700 strong workforce and the two-stage mine continuation plan, if approved, will secure jobs and economic benefits for the Mid-Western region in NSW.

Peabody was pleased to support the Barada Barna Aboriginal Corporation INC 8343 in marking the 10th anniversary of its Native Title Determination in Moranbah. Our Coppabella Moorvale JV sits on Barada Barna Country in the Bowen Basin. Executive General Manager Jacques du Toit addressed guests, highlighting the meaningful relationship with the Traditional Owners and the recently commissioned artwork by Barada Barna artist Jacey Muller, displayed on site. Peabody is proud to be recognised alongside Queensland's environmental leaders in mining, with Centurion Mine's 5MW power station as a finalist in the Environment category at the Queensland Mining Awards last night.

The facility, developed in partnership with Carbon Logica, converts coal mine waste gas into electricity for the Bowen Basin mine, cutting emissions by approximately 62,500t while lowering energy costs and easing demand on the local grid. The station is planned to scale up to 20MW. Thanks to Mackay Safety for sponsoring the category and congratulations to all finalists and winners.

More than 350 people learned about Wilpinjong Mine's two stage plans to continue mining through to 2038 at the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days.

Stage 2 has entered the State Significant Development approval process and builds on strong community support for the Stage 1 modification, with 86 per cent of Mid-Western region submissions supporting continued mining.
Wilpinjong supports more than 700 jobs, has contributed around $950 million in royalties to the NSW Government and has been mining in the region for almost two decades. For more information visit https://shorturl.at/QR1tS

Metropolitan Mine is proud to support the UNSW Platypus Conservation Initiative, helping restore platypus to the Royal National Park in NSW after a 50-year absence. The program has reintroduced 17 platypus and recorded four hatchlings, strengthening biodiversity in the Royal National Park near where the mine is located. The initiative was recently covered by WIN News Illawarra.
