When a municipal wastewater facility required a lining recommendation, the project was initially scoped as a routine recoat. Once the existing lining was removed, the condition of the steel revealed otherwise.

Visible deterioration and section loss halted the process. Was the substrate suitable for another lining? Or was the corrosion too advanced and maintenance painting no longer a viable option?

The wrong decision could have resulted in repeat failure, regardless of product specification.

With no defined industry guidance addressing acceptable steel condition in this scenario, our technical team expanded the evaluation beyond traditional wastewater industry sources. Identifying and applying applicable steel condition inspection language from another industry replaced question marks with a confident plan of action.
