So took a little time off of the Ryan project to complete a favorite car of mine. This is a 1934 Lagonda Rapier. The body was a mess when I got it. Having spent many years uncovered in the elements. The wood frames and aluminum body panels deteriorated to a point where new was the only answer. More photos to come of the doors and trunk fitting to the new panels.

Just finished a tool to help hold the cables when splicing the terminal ends. Next on to practice my weaving technique. All the control cables on the Ryan are hand spliced rather than crimped. I have an old book, Aircraft Maintenance by Brimm and Bogges. A wealth of info on long ago processes.

Allot has been going on behind the scenes with the Ryan restoration. We have completed the tail post support and tail wheel mounts. Also finishing up the FWF. We wheeled the cowl panels and fitted them. Last is the bottom cowl. It’s roughed out and some more shaping is due. On the whole it’s looking really great

Moving ahead on the Ryan. The forward supports are back from heat treatment and I'm jigging them into place with the nose support ring. It's all a little flimsy and hard to hold right now but soon I'll be able to clip in the nose bowl and that should stabilize things. I had some old side panels clamped in just to improve the mood in the shop!🙂

Started on the nose bowl cut-outs today. 3/8”flange turned down with just a hardwood block. It worked great.

Finally back up into the shop and working on Ryan parts. Here is a small pictorial post of the new wing ribs I'm making for my STA Replica. I'm using 2024-0 aluminum in .025 thickness and hammering them over some really nice 1" high density plastic cut to the wing rib shape. Once formed they will go of to heat treat and hopefully won't distort too badly. I'm working on a video of the forming process and will put it up shortly. Enjoy

So just started to fit the cowl baffles. They fit pretty well. It’s tuff to make the cutouts around the engine mounts and keep them neat. Another one to go and then finalize this weekend. Once they are done I’m heading to the nose bowl fabrication.

Starting on the firewall baffles for the Ryan. I need to make 3 sets of these. 4 parts per set. The aluminum is .025 202...

Starting on the firewall baffles for the Ryan. I need to make 3 sets of these. 4 parts per set. The aluminum is .025 2024-0 condition. Once they are finalized I’ll. Get them heat treated. The form is pretty solid and I do hammer on it some.
