Important Update Regarding Reported Fire Southwest of Stanton

We want to provide accurate information regarding the fire reported this afternoon near 830th Road and 562nd Avenue, approximately 10 miles southwest of Stanton.

Initial reports indicated the fire may have been caused by a downed power line. After further review, this is not correct.

The fire originated from an issue within a meter loop serving a pump service. At this time, the exact cause is still under investigation, but it does not appear to be related to a downed power line or our distribution system.

The fire has since been contained. We appreciate the quick response from local emergency responders in managing the situation.

We understand how important accurate information is to our customers and community, and we are committed to providing timely and factual updates.

You may notice some dirt work starting on land south of our headquarters off Highway 57. This will become SCPPD’s new material and pole yard, helping us better organize and store the equipment and materials needed to maintain and improve our electric system.

As our workload continues to grow, so does the need for additional space to store poles, transformers, and other equipment. The site will also include a 60 × 90 machine shed, planned for construction in late summer 2026, which will house a modest wash bay and provide additional space for trucks and equipment.

This investment will help us stay organized, work more efficiently, and continue providing reliable service to our customers.
