ReJoule’s $10M DOE grant was among those cut the $8Bn in cuts announced on October 1st. Like many innovators working to make US energy independence possible, this news was a profound disappointment. But moments like this only deepen our resolve. The core mission remains because everything is still powered by batteries and all batteries will degrade. Making the circular economy more efficient is good for business.

That’s why Bloomberg’s recent article, “JPMorgan Says US Needs Renewables to Meet Rising Energy Demand,” resonated so strongly with the ReJouligans. When one of the world’s most respected financial institutions makes that kind of $1.5T commitment, it’s a powerful validation that energy storage and renewables are not just good for the planet—they are essential for business and for America’s long-term global competitiveness.

It’s always a good conference when you can have a battery reuse and repurposing dinner with amazing people in the industry, this time at NAATBatt International conference.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Emil Nusbaum, from Automotive Recyclers Association, Freeman Hall from B2U Storage Solutions, and Sumreen Rattan and Chris Benson from Moment Energy to talk about all the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Even with all the uncertainty in the broader EV and battery industry today, one thing is certain: battery reuse, remanufacturing, and repurposing are good for energy independence, supply chain resilience, and the widespread adoption of EVs.

ReJoule had a battery reuse dinner with Emil Nusbaum from ARA, Antoni Tong from Smartville, Jessica Dunn from Union of Concerned Scientists, and Ahmad Pesaran from NREL!

Achieving true battery circularity requires all hands on deck from technology development and validation to shaping future policy. We’re all moving the needle in reuse, remanufacturing, and repurposing in different ways, and there’s a lot of optimism at this table for where this industry will be going.
