Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. is proud to announce the addition of a brand new Tsune Sawing Center to its arsenal of equipment. This new cold saw will complement three other programmable horizontal band saws. The entire sawing cells are facilitated with a 5 ton overhead crane. The Tsune Saw 130 G has a maximum saw diameter of 5.1 inches and will increase our sawing capacity by 50%. The new saw will also provide the benefit of a precision cut length that is smooth and an accepted machine finish. The new machine will be utilized for several new projects that Fitzpatrick Mfg. has been recently awarded as well as assist with our other sawing as business continues to expand. This new machine is our 101st piece of equipment, adding to our arsenal of CNC turning, CNC milling, and CNC surface grinding machines.

Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. is again sponsoring two teams from Oakland University this semester. This will be third time in roughly 1.5 years that we have two Fitzpatrick team members attending class, not only to learn more about the academic principals and real life applications of lean, but also to earn a green belt in lean. The other student team members will help address any internal issues with fresh eyes in our quest to become more efficient.

Ten team members from Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. attended IMTS 2014. The show seems back on track and at the levels last seen at the 2000 show. This is clearly a testament to the resurgence of manufacturing activity in North America. From talking with machine builders, tooling suppliers, metrology suppliers, and raw material suppliers, the overall consensus is the economy is doing pretty well overall. In fact, IMTS.com reports attendance was at 114,147, up 14% over the 2012 show. As a comparison, per IMTS.com there were just over 100,000 visitors in 2000. We hope the economy continues strong and that manufacturing continues to rebound.

On June 24, 2014 the employees of Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. once again gathered in our cafeteria for our much anticipated, infamous company BBQ. Despite the torrential downpour our grillers experienced, they kept on cooking, and the food was amazing!! We enjoyed steak, swordfish, beef and chicken kabobs, potato salad, mac n cheese, corn on the cob, fruit salad, desserts, and the list goes on!!! Needless to say, we all went home with full bellies that day! The food was terrific and the company of co-workers and friends was even better :) Thank you to everyone that was involved in making this another successful Fitzpatrick BBQ!
