Welcome to the team, Mark Teterin! Mark joins KSN as a graduate of Sacramento State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He began his career at KSN as an intern in March 2025 and has since transitioned to a full-time role, continuing to grow his experience in civil engineering and project development.

Mark is currently working on several levee projects, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to projects focused on flood protection and infrastructure improvements.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing the piano and following soccer and tennis.

Welcome, Mark!

Long Beach, here we come! 🌴 KSN will be attending the Floodplain Management Association’s 2026 Annual Conference from Sept. 8–10. We look forward to making new connections within the industry, catching up with familiar faces, and sharing ideas with professionals across the flood management community.

Be sure to join us Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. for the panel discussion, “Levee District Emergency Action Plans,” featuring Elizabeth Ramos as one of the panelists. Held in Seaview B (Session P-ERP1), the panel will explore the challenges, lessons learned, and successes associated with emergency action planning.

We’ll see you there!

Underneath an active port is the last place where you want surprises. The Stockton Port District’s East Complex Phase 1 Sewer Project presented a complex construction environment that required adaptability, collaboration, and careful coordination to minimize disruptions to ongoing operations at an active port. We recently celebrated the project and the team behind it at the APWA Sacramento Awards Luncheon, where it was recognized as the 2026 Project of the Year in the Environment category.

Congratulations to the Stockton Port District, on this achievement, and to Soracco, Inc., for its partnership in successfully delivering the project. Thank you to APWA Sacramento Chapter for bringing our public works community together for another memorable awards celebration!

Please join us in welcoming Bobby Medeiros, EIT to KSN! Bobby is a certified Engineer-in-Training and a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he studied Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on water resources modeling. He gained hands-on experience through a field engineering internship and designed and installed a storm drainage system for a community garden at Cal Poly as a member of the university’s Society of Civil Engineers Club.

At KSN, Bobby will contribute to our hydrologic and hydraulic modeling efforts, while also assisting with drinking water quality, utilities assessment, and design.

Outside of engineering, Bobby enjoys fishing and hiking. Fun fact: he placed third in a skateboarding competition in elementary school!

Welcome to KSN, Bobby!

Mentoring the next generation of civil engineers remains a key priority for KSN.

Tatum Walbeck (KSN Intern and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo civil engineering student) and Ashlyn Engler (high school student at East Nicholas High School) recently accompanied KSN Senior Civil Engineer Elizabeth Ramos, on a field visit to characterize a potential levee erosion site. Tatum and Ashlyn gained firsthand experience seeing how flood control infrastructure is assessed and evaluated, while learning more about the important role civil engineers play in protecting communities from flooding.

We value the opportunity to connect students with real-world engineering situations that we hope will inspire them to continue their journey toward becoming civil engineering professionals.

Follow the KSN Interns into the Field at Twitchell Island!

KSN’s summer interns recently visited the Reach 6 Project on Twitchell Island for an opportunity to see our work in action.

During the site visit, interns gained firsthand insight into the construction of a setback levee and the role KSN’s construction management team plays in supporting project delivery. They also learned how this work contributes to reducing flood risk and strengthening the long-term resilience of Delta communities.

Experiences like these provide valuable perspective and help connect our interns’ day-to-day work with the larger impact of the projects we support.

When most people think about w**eries, they picture vineyards, tasting rooms, and the art of w**emaking itself. Hidden within every glass is a network of infrastructure, supported by civil engineering, that helps make it all possible.

For decades, KSN has partnered with w**eries throughout the region to help facilities grow and evolve while maintaining safe operations and a welcoming experience for guests. From drainage and utilities to site circulation and expansion planning, civil engineering plays a vital role in supporting the w**emaking industry.

Swipe through to explore a few of KSN’s local w**ery projects and discover how civil engineering supports the w**e industry from the ground up!
