One of today's clients called saying their A/C wasn't working and that the unit was foaming. That's not foam. That's ice. In this situation, the culprit was a capacitor that we replaced. Always happy to help a family get back to comfortable. Especially on a hot day like today.

55 years ago, a proud tradition of serving the homes in Stoughton and the surrounding area was started by Stan Troy. The name may be different, and oil burners may have faded in popularity. But the phone number is the same, and Chad keeps his father's standard of service vibrant to this day.

Phone scams that are still occurring in our area. Suspects are attempting to impersonate legitimate businesses in Dane County, stating the customer are delinquent in their payments. They are also stating services will stop unless they send money electronically or a “cash card” from a retail store (i.e. Walgreens, Target, or similar store). This is an attempt to defraud you of a significant amount of money.

Please do not fall victim to this type of scams. If you are unsure or something does not feel right, hang up the phone and call the business directly to verify any information. DO NOT GIVE ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION OUT.

If you do receive a call for your personal information, please report the incident by calling the non-emergency dispatch number at 608-255-2345 or your local police department.

🥶Brrrrr. The really cold stuff is finally here. Just a couple of thoughts to help get through this:

Protect your plumbing. Pipes near outside walls need access to the warm air in your house. Open cabinets below sinks to let the warmth into those cold spaces. If you have any heat registers in the basement, open them up too. Make sure basement plumbing isn't hidden behind boxes or in a basement closet. Again, airflow is key. If you have a crawlspace, a fan might help push a little air towards any plumbing in there.

Pick up a space heater or two. Its always good to have a back up heat source just in case.
Pick up a carbon monoxide detector too if you don't have one. This is the time of year you need one the most.

When it's 45-50 degrees out you can take the chill off by just cooking a pizza or baking a few dozen cookies. 🙂 Not the case right now. In fact, the next couple of days may match or exceed what is called the "exterior design temperature" of a home. This temperature, -15 for Dane County, is used to determine the size furnace for a home. Most furnaces are sized with a "little extra" and can handle lower temps. but for some homes it may be a challenge to maintain anything over 65 degrees inside when it's -25 outside. Everything is working okay, but some supplemental heat source would come in handy to get that 70 degrees.

Be safe, and good luck! Summer's just around the corner, right?!!
