Godspeed NASA Artemis II and crew. Keep pushing that envelope!

Your engineers should watch this, not for the problem, but for the process used to solve it. :-)

One crucial element to managing the violent environmental conditions in which our Falcon II heavy-weather aircraft flies is this structural key that connects its arms at the aircraft's rotational center. This structure not only creates a fixed 'node' between the aircraft's structure and its inertial sensor core, but also supports a structure that manages the tuned damping of vibration at key points farther out on the multirotor's arms.

To all the men and women around the world who serve and protect our freedom, we thank you. We appreciate you.

Tuning WaveAerospace's 7th-generation Huntress turbojet is an engineer's dream with its entire control motor system taken from its predecessor, the successful X-5B, with hundreds of hours of flight time already on the aircraft.

Here, in visible and infrared, actual temperatures are measured by thermocouple, so the reference temperatures on the video should be ignored. Some instability observed in transition is the result of the modified fanless, low-bypass turbojet producing more thrust than predicted. In the last hop, the turbojet throttle was reduced to 20% to address this.

Multiple 20kg weights are currently being added to the bypass core to bring the aircraft closer to its flight weight. The aircraft is currently contained within a structure to fully comply with FAA regulations. Free flight and high-speed flight testing is scheduled to take place in wavered, restricted airspace over the next 90 days.

If you had the opportunity to watch the recent Chinese military parade, it was hard to miss all the nice shiny glass peeking up from various places on many of the large systems rolling through the city. If you're lucky enough to see this glass up close, you may even notice it appears to be tinted various colors. That "tinting" effect is caused by thin coatings that correct for the pathways different frequencies of light travel through the glass lenses.

Okay, end of science lesson. Suffice it to say, these optical systems are extremely precise and subject to aberration from even, well, Saudi Arabian dust.

Today, I'm proud to say that if it has glass, WaveAerospace is coming for you with new effectors. Close your sutters and lens caps. Oh, wait, you need them open to fire the weapon?

Rendered here to obscure some details, the proven Falcon II Nyx UAS platform (first image) is carrying one of its newest payloads. It is not a gun. Let's just say it's more like a bull in a china shop.

With its engine qualification finished, the Huntress turbojet, now mounted in its test rig, began its thrust and control testing yesterday. Needless to say, even the presence of the quiet test stand garnered some attention.

(For those pilots out there, like me, WaveAerospace works very closely with the FAA, ATC, and airport security to ensure we never interfere with airport operations and ground control. Proper use of blast shields further protects the environment and conditions of our ramp area. This close collaboration makes for a safe environment and helps prepare everyone for the day when both piloted and pilotless aircraft are sharing the same airspace.)

Night operations with our MULE aircraft—NOT rucksackable.

Keeping the avionics at an optimum working temperature, from the baking hot desert to the icy spray of the North Sea, takes more than a temperature-controlled fan.

This purpose-built Falcon II has a very special trick hidden in plain sight. When transitioning between critical hot and cold temperatures, thermochromic pigment in upper paint layers changes color to help maintain the aircraft's internal temperature.

The careful selection of colors and transition temperature can make a difference of as much as 20˚C to the internal temperature of the aircraft. Here we see the Falcon's top cowling changing color in realtime when put into an ordinary freezer.
