This Rye kitchen had good bones, but it was dark, narrow, and hiding one big unknown inside the walls.

We used our design-build process to rethink the space to bring in more light and improve the view, while planning around a concealed chimney we couldn’t fully measure until demolition.

Back at The Getty Bagel for the taste test. ☕️

The verdict: 8.2.

And the parmesan and pepper bagel was pretty hard to beat too.

Brad stopped by The Getty Bagel on Islington Street, the old Getty gas station that’s been turned into a bagel and coffee shop.

Good bagels, good coffee, garage doors open in the summer—very cool spot.

Everybody knows the rule: one sip.

Except this time, it was not our coffee order.

A quick check-in on the Exeter addition.

The main work is paused for the moment while the homeowners are away, but we were able to leave the project in a good spot before they left.

There are still a few small things we can do to help keep things moving, like getting the countertops templated. Getting that step done now helps keep the project moving and on track.

Another episode of Builders in Trucks Drinking Coffee, this time with a story from Brad’s recent trip to Paris.

While he was there with his family, they had the chance to attend Mass at Notre-Dame. After everything that building has been through, seeing it restored was something special.

What stood out most was the recognition given to the craftsmen who helped put it back together — the carpenters, stonemasons, artists, and everyone whose work brought that space back to life.

A good reminder that behind every finished building, there are people who know their craft and take pride in doing the work well.

Brad is back in the truck, and this episode comes with a pretty special update.

While he was away in Europe with his family, the team hit a big milestone at the Northwood Lake home. For the first time, we closed, received the certificate of occupancy, and had a customer move into a new home we built.

The homeowners are loving it, and we’re wishing them many happy years there.

A big thank you to the Oxland team who kept everything moving, especially Kate on the project management side and Matt with our field staff. It is a good feeling to be able to step away and know the work is in good hands.
