Demolition at the former Washington Mall site is substantially complete, and the project is now moving into the site preparation phase.

Crews are actively working on grading, stormwater systems, underground utilities, and foundational infrastructure that will support future development. The remaining buildings will stay in place until April as businesses transition to their new locations.

It’s exciting to see this transformation taking shape - and we’re continuing to grow our team as projects like this move forward.

A new footage update from the Century III Mall demolition project. Crews are now working on bringing down the remaining three-story section of the mall using the high-reach excavator as the project moves into its final stages. There’s still plenty of work ahead, and a significant amount of time is being spent processing material on site for recycling - crushing and sorting concrete and other materials so they can be reused and kept out of landfills. The site is starting to look very different as the last sections come down.

Check out the latest video for a closer look at the progress — and if you’re interested in joining the team, Neiswonger Construction is hiring.

Quarries like this are the starting point for much of the infrastructure we rely on every day. The limestone and aggregate produced here become the foundation for roads, bridges, utilities, and commercial projects across the region.

From careful extraction to material leaving the site, this operation plays a quiet but essential role in building and maintaining the places where we live and work.
