At B&K Enterprises, we’re proud to celebrate the women shaping our industry. One of those women is Korin Templeton, Logistics Coordinator, whose journey into logistics and trucking has been both unexpected and inspiring.
What excites Korin most about her role is the people she interacts with every day. Building relationships with trucking companies, dispatchers, and drivers makes her feel like she has an extended team, and every conversation deepens her understanding of logistics. Stepping into the role without prior experience, she quickly learned that staying organized, taking detailed notes, and maintaining clear communication—both internally and externally—are key to managing the complexity of coordinating trucking. Thanks to strong leadership and mentorship, she has grown into her role with confidence.
Despite the progress women have made in the industry, misconceptions still exist. Korin notes that people often assume women don’t belong in logistics, questioning their ability to navigate or handle the demands of the job. But like any skill, it can be learned with time and effort. She hopes to continue breaking barriers by helping hire a female driver at B&K, proving that women have a place in every aspect of logistics. Personally, she also dreams of earning her CDL one day to better understand the challenges that drivers face on the road.
Korin’s path into construction wasn’t something she had planned. After college, she was looking for a stable job with benefits and took a leap into the unknown. What started as an administrative assistant position soon evolved into something more as she found herself drawn to logistics. Being part of B&K’s journey to building its own fleet of CDL trucks was an exciting challenge, and stepping into the logistics coordinator role so quickly has been one of her biggest accomplishments.
What she loves most about working in this industry is that no two days are ever the same. While the processes remain consistent, every project brings new challenges, pushing her to think on her feet and work collaboratively with her team. Over time, those coworkers have become more like family. And while she hasn’t faced direct challenges as a woman in construction, she recognizes that challenges will come—but with confidence and a willingness to learn, she’s ready to take them on.
Her advice to other women considering a career in construction? Go for it. Women are just as capable as men in this industry, and with the right support and determination, success is within reach.
This Women in Construction Week, we celebrate trailblazers like Korin who are driving change and proving that women belong in every corner of the industry.
