Beachcomber Fiberglass Tech. Inc. Much has changed since I began working with composites in 1977. This is due to a variety of factors.

Beachcomber manufactures transom swim platforms, bow pulpits, cockpit cabinets, dock, deck and fish boxes, and boarding steps as well as many other fiberglass components. The materials, processes and applications have evolved at a rapid rate in the last fifteen years. The ones that stand out most in my mind are aerospace, environmental, defense and infrastructure requirements. These industries req

uire products and components that are low maintenance, exhibit significant strength to weight ratios, are cost competitive with materials such as aluminum, concrete and steel and often require shapes to meet aerodynamic and hydrodynamic specifics. What has not changed for my company is that the quality of the products and services we offer is directly related to the people we employ. Part of our business model has been to consistently employ people who take pride in their work. I believe in delegating responsibility and look to people who are open to change involving new processes and materials when the need arises. During the late 70’s the marine industry was at the fore front in composite applications. What began for Beachcomber as a small boat design called the Beachcomber Dory evolved into application beyond marine composites. When I try to explain what we do for other companies, I say, “We do a little bit for a lot of people”. We have provided products and services for such diverse companies and groups including Lockheed Martin, Military Sealift Command Sikorsky Aircraft, US Navy, US Coast Guard, Pratt Whitney, Hatteras Yachts, Viking Yachts, Cabo Yachts, along with many other well known entities.
