Here's what it takes:

• A system that monitors itself, so you don’t have to
• A team that knows how to escalate issues
• Backups that are tested and ready when needed
• A help desk that handles requests while you're away

When all of that is in place, out of office stops being a polite lie.

If you're being honest, it's probably been a while.

Most business owners can't switch off because their operations are built to need them. Every notification is a reminder that if you stop watching, something might go wrong.

The ability to go from always on to fully unplugged is a technology and systems shift.
