When we talk about Lamar Cares, this is exactly what we mean, showing up, serving others, and being part of something bigger than ourselves.
Recently, some of the children of our Lamar team members had the opportunity to serve on a missions trip to South Texas through their local church in partnership with Bounce Student Ministries. They helped clean up and rebuild a church camp that had been devastated by extreme flooding, an area that had been covered in 20–35 feet of water.
Lamar Cares was honored to support their efforts by helping provide supplies for the trip, equipping these students to step in and make a real difference.
The impact they made in just 16 hours is incredible:
• 12 churches came together
• 160 people served
• 306 wheelbarrows of dirt moved
• 60 wheelbarrows of rock moved
• 147,000 square feet of sod laid (that’s about 2½ football fields)
But what stands out even more than the numbers is the heart behind it.
In the middle of the work, there was time spent in God’s Word and nightly worship, reminding everyone why they were there in the first place.
This is what it looks like to live out our faith, serving with willing hands, building with purpose, and pointing everything back to Him.
We’re proud of these students and grateful to play a small part in supporting their efforts. Moments like this are how lives are impacted, both for those being served and those doing the serving.
