Turning flatstock steel into custom AG panels!

We realized we’ve been sharing plenty of our work, our products, and our projects—but we’ve never really introduced the people behind it all!

So, meet the owners behind Sundance Custom Steel!

Jay, his wife Resann, and Jay’s dad, Mike, started out with a small trim shop. At the time, they were only manufacturing trim and outsourced their panels, focused on building pole barns. But Jay and Mike had a bigger vision. They wanted to bring more of the process in-house, so they invested in the equipment to manufacture their own panels and continue growing the business.
In 2017, the family unexpectedly lost Mike. Although losing him was incredibly difficult, Jay continued moving forward with the business alongside his two sons, Asa and Austin. Together, they kept building, learning, and growing — carrying on the work and vision that Jay and Mike had started.
In 2021, that growth led to the construction of our current Sundance location. Then, in 2025, we opened our second location in Piedmont, South Dakota.
And we’re still growing! In 2026, we’ve added onto our Sundance location and built a brand-new office to accommodate the next chapter of Sundance Custom Steel. Which we will be announcing our grand opening soon so watch for that!

From a small trim shop to multiple locations and a full in-house operation, it’s been quite a journey.

We are so grateful for everyone who has helped us along the way, and excited for what’s still ahead! Thank you !

NEW COLOR ALERT ❣
Our newest woodgrain, Chippy Red !
Here we have it on a lean-to paired with our standard white trim to give that classic old, weathering barn look! But without the actual weathering, pretty sweet deal.
What do you think of this ? Better than the chippy white ?
