How to measure a steel stamp.
When measuring the character on a steel stamp or the stamped impression. You do not measure the overall size. Ideal character is the letter E however you can measure any character the same way. On the letter E stamp you measure form the peek or sharp point of the top cross bar to the peek or sharp point on the lower cross bar. Do not include the bevel. The bevel affect the stamped character so the deeper it is marked or the more worn the stamp is it will make the character size look larger than it is.
