Did you know that composite laminate wood flooring contains zero real wood on the surface you walk on?
It’s actually a fully synthetic, multi-layer product designed to perfectly mimic the look of hardwood:
• A tough, transparent wear layer (melamine + aluminum oxide) protects against scratches and stains
• Underneath sits a high-resolution photographic layer that reproduces wood grain (or stone/tile) in stunning detail
• The thick core is made of high-density fiberboard (HDF) — compressed wood fibers and resin — for stability and strength
• A bottom balancing layer prevents warping
This composite construction makes laminate flooring affordable, highly durable, easy to install (usually click-lock floating system), and far more resistant to scratches and fading than real wood — while looking almost identical from a distance. The only trade-off? It can’t be sanded and refinished like genuine hardwood.
