One thing we'll miss about summer? The wildlife outside the AMI office.

From our returning otter friends to eagles soaring over the lake, a groundhog sighting or two, and all kinds of different birds, nature provided plenty to watch right outside our windows. The geese became regulars throughout the season, and watching the goslings grow from tiny fluffballs into young geese was a reminder of just how quickly summer flew by.

We're looking forward to seeing who stops by next season!

🌊 Cool jobs take you to cool places.

This week, our team was out at Devils Island supporting a waterfront rehabilitation project on the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The crew captured some great photos of our divers in action!

Fun fact: The person holding the diver's lines is called a dive tender. They manage the diver's umbilical, maintain communications, and are a key part of keeping the operation running safely.

Big news for our industry! ⚓

The House recently approved the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026, advancing investments in the nation's ports and harbors, inland waterways, flood and storm risk management, and other critical water resources infrastructure.

These are the exact types of projects AMI supports every day. From port and harbor improvements to navigation, coastal resilience, flood risk reduction, and environmental services, our team works on the planning, design, and delivery of critical water resources projects across the country.

It’s great to see continued investment in the infrastructure that drives economic growth, supports transportation networks, and serves communities nationwide. For AMI, these projects are at the core of what we do.

The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration before becoming law.

Between the work and a little off-duty fishing, the crew managed to reel in a few impressive catches along the way. Safe to say this project had its perks!

Drone views from our recent work at the Minnesota Power's Blanchard and Sylvan Hydroelectric Dam sites!

This project in partnership with Minnesota Power an ALLETE Company included a single beam survey, a hydrographic surveying method that uses sonar technology to collect precise depth measurements and map underwater features, creating a better understanding of underwater conditions around critical infrastructure.

Getting a better understanding of shoreline change takes boots on the ground and boats in the water.

The AMI team was recently in Lake of the Woods collecting topographic survey data and vibracore sediment samples for the Southern Shore Barrier Island Study. The information gathered in the field will help us better understand erosion, sediment movement, and the factors affecting the long-term health of the barrier islands.

While there's still plenty of work ahead, every trip to the field helps create a clearer picture of how these islands are changing and what options may help protect them in the future.
