After a combined thirty-four years in the Commercial Construction Industry, Janet and Jason Gekiere set out to use the experience and knowledge they accumulated to fulfill their entrepreneurial dream. In September of 2011 they formed Tower Construction, LLC with the intent of being a small to mid-size firm. Their goal was to create a trust and relationship based business plan, by bringing transpar

ency and a true team methodology to the construction process. With a list of successful projects already to their credit, valued relationships established with several developers and clients, and a growing staff, the plan is well under way.

The heat can't slow us down! ☀️ Team MEDC recently toured Ferndale’s Vester Flats gave us an inside look at this mixed‑use, multi‑family project featuring 72 new apartments and first‑floor retail space. It was a blast exploring the site and seeing the innovative approaches being used to keep residents comfortable and project costs low.

MEDC supported Vester Flats with a Community Revitalization Program loan in 2025. This former surface parking lot is being transformed into much‑needed affordable workforce housing in Downtown Ferndale, along with refreshed streetscapes, alleyway upgrades, underground infrastructure improvements, public art, and pedestrian-focused design. We’re wishing the Vester Flats team the best as construction continues — and we can’t wait for the ribbon cutting! 🎉

We want to thank the board for honoring Jason Gekiere, Tower Construction, at their annual Night of Hope gala. Jason loved board member Fran Lucido, the Lucido family and the entire team, so when Fran first approached him to support this great organization it was an easy yes. Angels of Hope Michigan is run entirely by volunteers. Jason would say the giving is easy. It’s the amazing volunteers who do the heavy lifting.
