Oil where it shouldn't be usually means one thing, a worn out valve cover gasket. This one had dried out and cracked over time, letting oil seep down the side of the engine.
If it's not caught, that oil can drip onto hot engine parts and start burning off, which is where that burnt oil smell under the hood comes from. Left too long, you're also just losing oil you don't need to lose.
We got this one pulled, cleaned up, and resealed with a new gasket. No more leak, no more smell. ✅
