Job description
AES Mechanical Inc. is a mechanical contractor that performs work nationwide for its customers. The company has been in business since 2004 and focuses its business on HVAC unit replacements.
The company has an immediate opening for a Structural Welder to perform various welding duties focused on HVAC installation and replacement projects.
Job Requirements
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Motor vehicle report (MVR) with clean driving record
• Ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S.
• Knowledge of OSHA Regulations 29 CFR 1926 Subpart J - Welding & Cutting
• AWS Certification D1.1 or ability to acquire.
• Experience with Arc +Flux Core, MiG and TiG welding equipment & processes
• Ability to work overnight in existing buildings.
• Ability to read, comprehend and perform work from blueprints/drawings.
• Knowledge of fire prevention methods for occupied space welding
• Ability to acquire Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Authorized Operation

When I was in High School in the 90's everyone was pushing the 4-year college system. Today we are seeing people with a skilled trade making more than people with a 4-year degree. Most of the United States skilled tradesman are starting to reach retirement age. This will only increase the number of people needed in the near future that possess a trade. As a parent I highly recommend everyone evaluating their local career technical education opportunities. High School students today that are enrolled in a CTE program have a graduation rate of 93%. If a High School student earned 2-3 CTE credits 91% continued onto college. The National adjusted cohort graduation rate is only 85%.
My research shows that students involved in CTE are far less likely to drop out of high school than other students, a difference estimated to save the U.S. economy $168 billion each year. Also progressive CTE course-taking in high school is associated with higher wages. Workers see a 2% wage increase for each upper-level CTE course taken.
The National average for a welder is $17.89 per hour, the National average for HVAC technician is $23.34 per hour, and the National average for an Electrician is $ 25.93 per hour. I recruit for these positions constantly for AES Mechanical and AES Industries. We offer plenty of overtime with an above average per diem.
The future looks bright for skilled tradesman. I highly recommend the next generation of workforce not turn their noses up at some of these career paths.
