๐ฃ๏ธ Safer roads start with safer choices.
In this second week of National Safety Month, we're focusing on roadway safety. Being aware of potential safety hazards and practicing safe driving is critical for keeping you and others on the road safe.
The top industries for work-related roadway accidents are service-providing industries, accounting for 86%.
As a company that provides electrical transformer maintenance services, every choice we make behind the wheel matters. SDMyers' Field Inspection Technicians (FITs) and Field Service Technicians go through work site safety training and have strict fleet vehicle rules.
๐ก Tip 1: Commit to safe driving & work site safety practices.
Take the NSC Just Drive Pledge and consult your company's fleet driving policy. Stay up to date on necessary work site hazards training and certifications.
๐ก Tip 2: Get to know your destination.
Research your route and the job site you're heading to. Be cautious of construction zones and take note of the job site conditions. Be prepared to back up and maneuver safely around potential hazards or equipment.
๐ก Tip 3: Look out for unsafe drivers & conditions.
Safety affects everyone. Although you might be committed to safe driving, that doesn't mean every driver around you is. Be aware of your surroundings and give drivers space. Account for environmental factors like snow, rain, and ice.
๐ก Tip 4: Practice responsible driving.
Don't be a liability. Secure cargo and valuables, limit distractions, don't drive drowsy or under the influence, put down the cellphone, wear your seatbelt, and follow speed limits.
