Calling on patients with lymphedema and lymphatic diseases and their caregivers!

"Lymphatics are not important." I've heard this too many times in my career. Maybe you've heard it too.

This is your chance to make your voice heard. We are conducting a study to bring the experience of patients with lymphatic diseases into the light. And time is of the essence - round 1 of our study closes this Wednesday, October 7. We need to interview six more people by then. It's easy and can be done from the convenience of your home or office. We will also keep your information private. If you have been affected by a lymphatic disease, please sign up.

Healthcare providers - we also want to hear from you! It doesn't matter if you're an expert on lymphatic diseases or have relatively little knowledge. Your input also helps us tell the overall story for the patient experience.

I'm happy to announce that our program for lymphedema care led by my department chair Dr. Nicholas Panetta has met the requirements for designation as a Comprehensive Center of Excellence by the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN). This is a significant milestone toward improving care for individuals with lymphedema and lymphatic diseases in our region. Congratulations Dr. Panetta and team!

Earlier this year we secured funding to establish a new Center for Lymphatic Education and Research at the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital. Our new center will be a new hub for both research and clinical training for helping patients with lymphatic diseases.

We have a new publication related to our work on hemorrhagic shock and microvascular permeability. In this study, we found that administration of apolipoprotein M in resuscitative fluids could reduce the level of microvascular leakage in a combined alcohol intoxication and hemorrhagic shock model.
