🚀 As we launch into 2026, we’re pleased to take a moment to reflect and share our 2025 Annual Summary.

2025 marked a key inflection point as CLARION, our breath diagnostics platform, advanced from concept to demonstrated capability, with successful deployments spanning infectious disease, global health, oncology, and national security. Highlights include human trials and field validation in resource-limited and operational environments, early FDA engagement, and the launch of our onsite Breath Research Lab to support continued clinical and regulatory progress.

Looking ahead, our focus is on clinical validation, the launch of our advanced CLARION-β platform, and early market pilots as we move toward scalable, real-world deployment. We remain deeply grateful to our partners, funders, and collaborators who share our belief that accessible, rapid diagnostics can improve outcomes and save lives. With their support, we're refining technology that not only advances molecular science, but also strengthens health, resilience, and readiness around the world.

🩺 What if your breath could reveal the earliest signs of disease before symptoms appear?

That question drives the MATTHIAS Project — a global collaboration between , Labyrinth Global Health, and the Laboratoire Nationale de Santé Publique (LNSP), supported by the Gates Foundation.

At its heart of the program is CLARION, our chip-scale GC-MS platform that analyzes breath in real time to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) — tiny chemical markers that change when disease is present. Through recent fieldwork in the , we collected hundreds of breath specimen to identify VOC biomarkers linked to and .

Now back stateside, our data scientists are using AI-driven software and machine learning (ML) to refine the sample data, combining advanced algorithms and pattern recognition to deliver real-time insights for faster, more accurate diagnoses at scale. The results are being benchmarked against gold-standard methods like qPCR and rapid diagnostic tests to validate our new, non-invasive approach to detecting disease.

Malaria and TB continue to claim millions of lives each year, especially in regions where diagnostic access is limited. Early, affordable, and non-invasive testing could change that — empowering clinicians, strengthening public health systems, and saving lives.

Each breath brings us closer to this goal.

💡 In Brazzaville, rolling power outages are routine. But innovation doesn’t stop when the lights go out.

Through the MATTHIAS Project, supported by the Gates Foundation, teams from , Labyrinth Global Health, and Laboratoire Nationale de Santé Publique (LNSP), came together to test the CLARION breath diagnostics platform in the field.

Over several weeks, we screened hundreds of participants for malaria and TB. Behind these numbers stood an extraordinary network of people: the chief of Makélékélé Hospital in the and the head of infectious diseases, physicians and nurses on the front lines, an entire department of public health officials ensuring accurate ground truth, scientists and researchers driving innovation, and the support staff who made translation (a combination of French and two-to-three local Congolese dialects, such as Lingala and Kituba), logistics, and community outreach possible. Together, this diverse group embodied a shared commitment: advancing equitable and affordable healthcare solutions.

The experience underscored a core truth: technology means little if it isn’t accessible. What we witnessed on the ground was more than a field trial but living proof that healthcare innovation can thrive across borders, overcome challenges, and empower communities.

At Detect-ION, we’re not just building devices; we’re building bridges to better health. 🌍

🩺 Two preventable diseases. Millions of lives at risk. A pressing need for better diagnostics.

Through the MATTHIAS Project — a partnership between , Labyrinth Global Health, and Laboratoire Nationale de Santé Publique (LNSP), with support from the Gates Foundation — we’ve deployed CLARION, our breath diagnostics platform, to tackle and in the .

Malaria and TB remain among the world’s deadliest infectious diseases, but they’re not only health crises — they’re barriers to progress. They keep children out of school, families in poverty, and economies from thriving. But here’s the thing: both are preventable and curable. These diseases persist because millions of people still lack access to timely, reliable testing. Without early diagnosis, treatment comes too late — costing lives and livelihoods.

We aim to change that. By harnessing breath-based, non-invasive, low-cost diagnostics through CLARION, we’re working to make early detection fast, affordable, comfortable, and accessible anywhere. Because when communities can detect and treat disease sooner, they can stay healthy, resilient, and strong.

🇨🇬 How do you take a high-performance diagnostic platform and make it work in the heart of the ?

That’s one of the questions at the core of the MATTHIAS Project, our collaboration with Labyrinth Global Health and Laboratoire Nationale de Santé Publique (LNSP), supported by the Gates Foundation.

Traveling over 6,800 miles — from our home in , Florida, to Makélékélé Hospital in — this initiative puts CLARION, our chip-scale mass spectrometer, to the test in real-world, limited-resource settings.

This summer, our team completed a five-week field deployment, applying CLARION’s breath-based molecular diagnostics to detect and . Alongside these tests, we took paired breath specimens for high resolution mass spectrometry to test and optimize CLARION’s detection algorithm.

Each human specimen not only refines our algorithms but also deepens our understanding of what it takes to conduct cutting-edge research in challenging environments and develop a sensor platform comfortable for human use.

Progress, after all, is not just about what’s possible in the lab — but what’s achievable in the field.

🌍 We want to transform how the world detects disease. Non-invasive. Inexpensive. In minutes. At the point of care.

This is the vision driving the MATTHIAS Project, a global collaboration between Detect-ION, Labyrinth Global Health, and the Laboratoire Nationale de Santé Publique (LNSP), made possible through the generous support of the Gates Foundation.

Our team recently returned from the first human trials in the Republic of Congo, where we worked alongside an extraordinary multi-national team to develop breath diagnostics for and in limited-resource settings.

By harnessing the power of high-resolution mass spectrometry to identify volatile organic compound (VOC) biomarkers in the breath and applying those models using CLARION, Detect-ION’s portable, chip-scale mass spectrometry platform, we aim to reduce the cost and complexity of laboratory-grade diagnostics and make them accessible anywhere.

This isn’t science fiction – it’s science made practical, assessable, and scalable. Stay tuned as the story unfolds.
