This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for neighbors who take ownership.
A few months ago, longtime Taylors resident Jonathan Hallas reached out with an offer to reinstall American flags on the stone piers at the Mill Street entrance. What began as a simple gesture turned into a real team effort.
Jonathan cleaned and restored both lanterns, replaced missing glass, and tidied the wiring. Neighbor Mike Iatesta helped coordinate with the church, which owns the second pier. And when one lantern was missing its access panel, Mill tenant and craftsman Karl Dunn with The Mill Fifty Seven stepped in and built a new copper door using salvaged material from the Mill.
No one asked them to do this. They just cared enough to show up.
This is what community ownership looks like. Small contributions, shared stewardship, and people investing in something bigger than themselves.
We’re thankful for Jonathan, Mike, and Karl for helping keep this corner of Taylors looking like home.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Mill.
