The THS Robotics Team offers opoprtunities for students of all ages to learn about and participate in programs related to robotics and hands-on applications of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Our featured programs include:
LEGO Summer Camp - THS Robotics Students host free weeklong LEGO MindStorms and WeDo 2.0 experiences for students enrolled in the TUSD Extended Day Summer Pro
gram. Junior Robotics - THS Robotics Students fund and run Fall robotics programs for students from 1st through 8th grade, including FLL Jr., FLL, and FTC. Hour of Code - THS Robotics Students visit every elementary school to spend an hour with each 1st through 5th grade class, facilitating the Hour of Code so that every student gets to learn the basics of computer programming. Super Science Saturday - THS Robotics Students host a free science exposition for the community, enabling kids and parents to experience hands-on, sometimes messy, science while also visiting with local science-related groups, like the Tehachapi Gem and Mineral Society and local rocketry or astronomy groups. FIRST Robotics Competition - THS Robotics Students design, build, program, and operate a 120-pound robot for a cooperative-competitive challenge each year. They have six weeks from learning the challenge to finishing their robot, which they then transport to compete at 3-day events in California and Nevada.
