Actively trading the markets requires a different mindset than investing. While fundamentals -- both economic and company-specific -- mostly determine the kind of long-term trends that are important to investing, short-term trading success is largely dependent on identifying patterns in the markets. It's largely a statistical problem. In my opinion, that's why machine learning and other automated methods can be so useful: they can identify market patterns in a systematic way that's difficult to accomplish manually. Adaptrade Builder 4.1 is now available to licensed users through their license page and as a free trial at adaptrade.com. Version 4.1 adds a strategy cloning feature that enables the user to "clone" any strategy in the population to generate any number of copies, which can contain optional mutations. Adaptrade Editor allows you to write trading strategies for MultiCharts, TradeStation, NinjaTrader 7, NinjaTrader 8, MetaTrader 4, and AmiBroker without coding. I recently released Adaptrade Builder version 3.2, which adds the ideal trades feature and the Ideal Matches metric. By building strategies that maximize the Ideal Matches metric, the strategies will match as many of the ideal trades as possible. This can be a good way to specify strategies based on a chart-based description of what you want; you're basically saying, "give me strategies that generate trades like these". Builder version 2.5 is now available. This release adds the ability to include multiple data series in the same strategy. For example, a strategy for trading individual stocks could include logic based on interest rates and forex prices. Up to 20 different symbols can be included in the same strategy, and secondary symbols need not be of the same time frame as the primary symbol. For example, if the primary symbol is 5-minute bars of a stock index future, daily bars of a forex symbol could be added as a secondary symbol. Or the same symbol can be added multiple times with different bar sizes, such as 5-minute bars, 60-minute bars, and daily bars of the E-mini S&P futures.
