Position is for a Process Technician working in the engineering department of a small (30 employees) high-tech fiber optic manufacturing company located in Tempe, AZ. The prominent role will be working with customers, engineering staff, and manufacturing staff to create producible processes, and work instructions of new products. Individuals with diverse skills and knowledge of technology, who enjoy problem solving and variety in their workdays, will be excellent candidates for this position and are asked to apply. Work hours are typically 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility after fully trained.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Develop processes for various fiber optic assemblies
· Review, inspect, and source materials used product development
· Assemble, test, and validate prototypes and design validation builds
· Develop new processes for cost reductions and scrap reductions
· Conduct testing of raw materials and assemblies for both mechanical and temperature requirement
· Prepare pre-production and process validation quality reports
· Documentation of product assembly, processing, and testing
· Drive improvement of existing manufacturing process with new material, technology or tools
· Support and train production staff on new processes and/or assembly procedures

Requirements/Qualifications:
 Associate Degree in Science Technology, Engineering, or related field
 3+ years of experience in a product engineering or manufacturing
 Read and comprehend mechanical and assembly drawings
 Eye-hand coordination suitable for assembly of small and delicate components
 Trained in using Vernier calipers and micrometers measurement tools
 Experience with the basic electronic measurement tools such as ohm and voltmeters
 Capable of working in metric and SI units of measure
 Experience in process and product development and the various phases from proof-of concept to releasing to product to manufacturing.
 Ability to plan and handle multiple projects, and optimize workflow to meet deliverables and accountabilities
 Resourceful in finding new solutions, technology and tools to solve customer or product development problems
 Attention to details
 Proficient in MS Office, mathematical skills, data collection, and basic statistics
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
