Happy Back to the Future Day. Doc Brown needed 1.21 gigawatts to send a car through time. A home runs on a tiny fraction of that, which is why rooftop solar and a home battery can cover so much of everyday life, from the morning coffee to the evening AC. No flux capacitor required, just a roof with good sun and a system designed around how you actually use power. Curious what your home needs? Link in bio and we'll size it from your real bill.

APS customers, your November bill may look a little lighter. On October 8 the Arizona Corporation Commission unanimously approved a one-time bill credit and paused the Renewable Energy Adjustment Charge, which shows up on residential bills as the Environmental Benefits Surcharge, for November. The ACC estimates the average residential customer could save about $14.70 in total. The surcharge returns December 1, and APS's larger rate case is still headed for a Commission vote by the end of the year. If you want to see how solar and a home battery could fit your plans as rates change, our Tempe team will walk through your actual bill with you. Link in bio. Bill impacts vary by home, usage and rate plan.

Texas keeps setting new records for how much electricity it uses, and the hardest part of the day for the grid is the evening. Solar panels make plenty of power in the afternoon, but when the sun goes down the AC is still running. That’s where batteries come in: they store extra solar during the day and send it back once the sun sets. On the record-setting night in July 2026, Texas batteries put out enough power for about 2.4 million homes at once, and battery output keeps climbing year after year as more come online. A home battery works the same way for your house, storing your own solar during the day and running your home after dark or when the grid is strained. Want to see what one would look like for you?

It’s National Savings Day, so here’s a quick one: pull up your last electric bill and find three lines. The energy charge is what you pay per kWh you use. The fixed or delivery charges show up no matter how much you use. And if you’re on a time-of-use plan, your peak hours are when every kWh costs the most. Solar covers a lot of your daytime use, and a battery can carry that solar into the evening peak. If you want a second set of eyes on your bill, our local team is happy to walk through it with you. Five stars, and this line made our week: “Everyone I spoke with was helpful and knowledgeable about the products.” This homeowner went from start to finish with two Powerwall 3 batteries and an EV charger in 31 days, approvals included. If you’ve been wondering what home backup or EV charging would look like at your place, ask us anything!

Your Tesla can now help keep your lights on. Tesla just expanded Powershare Home Backup to new Model 3 and Model Y orders, joining Cybertruck, so during an outage your car can send power to your home and stretch your Powerwall 3’s backup. Tesla estimates that adds about two days of backup for Model 3 and Model Y and about three for Cybertruck, based on an average home using 30 kWh a day. The catch: it only works with a Powerwall 3 and a Tesla Wall Connector on your home’s backup circuit. As a Tesla Certified Powerwall installer, Icon Power designs and installs that setup from start to finish. Thinking about a new Tesla or a battery? Let’s plan them together.

Tile roofs take patience, and this Peoria install got it. Our crew mounted 10.5kW of all-black panels across two clean arrays, working around the vents and keeping the lines tight so the system looks like it belongs on the house. Good solar should perform for decades and look sharp doing it. See what a clean install looks like on your home: link in bio.

Arizona set another record this summer. On July 24, with Phoenix at 117 degrees, APS and SRP each passed 9,000 megawatts of demand for the first time, and APS peaked even higher on August 2. The grid held steady, and the highest demand still lands in the evening, when rooftop solar winds down and the AC is still running. A home battery stores your own solar for those evening hours and keeps essentials running if the power goes out. Want to see how a battery fits your home?
