🏠 What’s Under Your Shingles Matters Just as Much as What’s On Top.

During a roof replacement, it’s important to take the existing roofing system all the way down to the decking.

Why? Because the decking is the foundation of the entire roof system. By removing all existing shingles and underlayment, we can visually inspect the wood and make sure we have a solid, sufficient nailable substrate before installing the new roof.

Simply walking the roof and checking for soft spots isn’t always enough. Rotted, deteriorated, delaminated, or damaged decking may not feel soft under your feet — and if old felt or underlayment is left in place, those problem areas can easily stay hidden.

Once everything is removed, we can inspect the decking section by section and replace anything that doesn’t meet the standard before covering it back up.

There’s not much sense in investing in a brand-new roofing system if you’re installing it over a foundation you never fully inspected.

☀️🥵 Texas summer is officially here, and that means attic temperatures are climbing to extreme levels. A super-heated attic can make it much harder to keep your home cool, forcing your A/C system to work overtime.

Here is a project where we removed the homeowners’ existing static “turtle” vents and upgraded them to a solar-powered attic fan. These fans are powered entirely by the sun, feature a built-in thermostat that automatically turns the fan on and off as needed, and require virtually no maintenance.

💡 One important thing to know: You should not mix different types of attic ventilation. We often see homes where a solar attic fan has been installed while static vents, ridge vents, or other ventilation systems were left in place. Mixing ventilation systems can reduce their effectiveness and create airflow issues instead of improving attic ventilation.

🤝 We want to take a little break from just posting our work we are doing and show some appreciation to our representative team. These guys work hard, they work long days, and they do whatever it is they need to do to ensure our complete customers satisfaction. Fortress Roof Systems is honored to have them represent our brand, our culture, and our work ethic. 🤣🏰 Fun Fact About Fortress Roof Systems…

Most people think roofing is all hammers and shingles… but some days it feels more like we’re auditioning for a rock climbing competition. 🧗‍♂️😂

The pitch on this roof had us wondering if we accidentally showed up at a climbing gym instead of a job site! Thankfully, we have a team that isn’t afraid of a challenge, so roofs like this are just another day at the office.

Steep roof? No problem.
High roof? We’ve got it.
Mountain? …Let’s not get carried away. 😅

The Fortress Roof Systems team is up and at ’em this morning taking care of another one of our wonderful customers!

A big thank you to the Taylor family for trusting us with your home. We truly appreciate your business.

We removed three layers of felt so we could thoroughly inspect the roof decking and make all necessary repairs before installing the new roofing system. Taking the extra time to inspect and repair the decking helps ensure a quality roof from the foundation up.

Today we’re installing a beautiful IKO Roofing Dynasty® Driftshake Class 3 impact-resistant dimensional roofing system, giving this home a fresh new look along with added protection.
