2026 is here and intern Jake McCown back at it and half way to getting his 1000 hrs for the State CPC Certified Contractor Exam.
Taking a long look at an installation that the contractor ignored some fundamentals that allows this system to trap water and not drain back eliminating the freeze protection which is causing damage to the panels.
This system should not of been engineered and installed this way in addition to how it was installed without popping chalk lines or measuring up from the drip ease for propper tilt and drain back feature.

Rebar clearance to soil is important to prevent corrosion.

Bars pressed against forms will have ZERO clearance once the forms are removed.

This violates ACI 318 and the building codes.

The solution in the image below, would have been to turn the bar tips down. Then the vertical ends could have been blocked off of the forms.

Inspect your steel in cross section to endure it will remain clear of the soil, once the forms are stripped.
