A first for the Permian Basin.

Iofina has commissioned the first commercial-scale iodine production facility in the Permian, with Western Midstream supplying up to 50,000 Bbls/d of produced water.

Earlier this month, Jordan Lake, Vice President of Commercial Water, traveled to Midland, Texas, to represent Western Midstream on a panel titled “The Future of Treated Produced Water” at the Permian Basin Petroleum Association annual meeting.

Speaking alongside peers working on the same challenge, Jordan emphasized our work in the Joint Industry Project and the Pathfinder pipeline, reinforcing our reputation as a leader in produced water and beneficial reuse. Thank you to PBPA for hosting a forum that continues to advance the important dialogue around produced water.

Oscar Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer, represented Western Midstream on an energy industry panel alongside fellow midstream executives at the Daniel Energy Partners Executive Series at Pebble Beach in California earlier this month. The discussion centered on the outlook for Permian Basin throughput growth, Western Midstream’s M&A strategy, and our strategic positioning and capital allocation priorities amid volatile market and commodity price conditions.

This event was an important way to share our growth story with the industry, demonstrate the scale and quality of our asset base, and reinforce our position as a premier midstream company. Thank you to DEP for hosting the conference and providing an avenue for continued partnership and dialogue.

In a recent ESG/water management column published by World Oil, Western Midstream’s Joint Industry Project 2 pilot was highlighted as part of the broader shift toward beneficial reuse of produced water in the Permian. The Reeves County facility, run in collaboration with four major operators, is validating consistent reclaimed freshwater production at demonstration scale — work that supports long-term water security in West Texas.

The future of beneficial reuse won’t be shaped by technology alone - it will be shaped by conversations with the people who know the land best.

At the University Lands Grazing Lessee Meeting, Western Midstream’s Chris Martin, Senior Director of Surface Land, joined the Texas Produced Water Consortium and NGL Energy Partners for an educational session with West Texas stakeholders on beneficial reuse - what it is, how it works and what it could mean for the region.

For Western Midstream, stakeholder outreach means more than sharing information. It means listening, answering questions, and meeting people where they are. Thank you to University Lands for bringing people and industry together for an open, educational conversation about beneficial reuse.
