Excelerate Energy Marks One Year in Jamaica: Strengthening Energy Security Through LNG and Partnerships
Excelerate Energy and the U.S. Embassy co-hosted a reception marking one year of the company’s operations in Jamaica and serving as the kickoff celebration on the island commemorating 250 years of American independence. Charge d’Affaires Scott Renner and Excelerate CEO Steven Kobos welcomed leaders from Jamaican government, business, and civil society to the U.S. Ambassador’s residence in Kingston.
Guest of Honor Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamina Johnson Smith shared a message from Prime Minister Andrew Holness recognizing Excelerate’s contributions to Jamaica’s energy security and stabilizing power costs. Johnson Smith emphasized the importance of working with the right partners like Excelerate and acknowledged the progress the United States and Jamaica were making in the energy sector.
Renner highlighted Excelerate’s commitment to Jamaica, pointing to the company’s 2025 $1 billion investment and post-Hurricane Melissa relief efforts. “American investments like this one by Excelerate, reflect the strength of that long-standing partnership between the U.S. and Jamaica.”
The audience, which included the who’s who of the Jamaican business community, applauded Kobos’ remarks about the company’s plans to expand its regional liquefied natural gas (LNG) platform and the importance of Jamaican employees to Excelerate’s global operations.
