PROJECT UPDATE: Boggs Tainter Gate Fabrication continues to move forward as Specks recently completed the alignment and line boring of Tainter Gate Trunnion Hubs utilizing Leica Metrology and Mactech Line Boring equipment.

Using advanced precision technology, our team was able to concentrically align and bore trunnion hubs spaced more than 45’ apart while maintaining extremely tight job tolerances. Current bore dimensions measure 20” diameter x 24” long. This is another example of Specks’ commitment to precision and high-quality fabrication and machining solutions.

Throughout this job, our team has utilized plate processors for 2” thick hub plates with drilled holes, along with the use of our PythonX Plasma Cutter for processing all wide fl**ge beams. Once complete, the grillages will be installed on top of helical piles also produced in-house by our Specks team, showcasing our team’s full-service fabrication capabilities from start to finish.

Grillage breakdown:
• Type 1 — 7.5’ square steel pile caps: 494 fabricated | 950 total tons
• Type 2 — 10’ square steel pile caps: 136 fabricated | 347 total tons
• Type 2P — 10’ square steel pile caps: 14 fabricated | 49 total tons

Specks is wrapping up fabrication and coating of the structural steel and framing for the Donaldsonville Pump Station pump building—a 145’ x 48’ x 37’ tall structure designed to support critical infrastructure.

This scope includes columns, cross and lateral bracing, rigid roof frames, canopy gutter support frames, concrete deck support floor beams, and overhead crane track beams for a 50-ton overhead crane. Fabrication was completed using our Messer Cutting Table for baseplates, connection plates, and gusset plates, along with our Python X Plasma Cutter for precise processing of beams, channels, tubing, and angles.

Key members include W27x146 and W14x90 columns, W24x104 and W27x84 crane track supports with C15x33.9 channels, HSS tubing for gutter frames and bracing, and W24x68 rigid roof frame beams with HSS framing supports.

Another example of Specks’ ability to deliver complex structural steel packages with precision, efficiency, and lasting quality. Great work, team!
