China Outlines Future Plans in New Video, Including Finding Earth 2.0
By Matthew Williams

These plans include a radio astronomy experiment destined for the far side of the Moon, a solar observatory that will investigate space weather, a space telescope that will monitor black holes and neutron stars, and an exoplanet-hunting satellite that will search for Earth-like planets.

A video that appeared on CGTN's Hot Take details four missions that China will be sending to space in the coming years, including a survey telescope that will search for Earth 2.0.

Startup "Blue Skies Space" pioneers subscription service for space-based astronomy.

The Startup will sell data from its tiny, low-cost 13 centimeter UV telescope with an annual subscription costing the rough equivalent of a year’s salary for a Ph.D. student.

The development of the satellite, which will ride into space as soon as 10 November on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, was funded by a €1.2 million grant from the European Union, combined with prelaunch subscriptions, grants, and investors.

On our interstellar visitor 3I/ATLAS: Its perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) is tomorrow at 11:32:07 UTC!

If indeed the total brightness has gone up by a optical magnitude, that would be good for Juice (their first observations will be November 2nd, see the attached figure). They have uploaded their command sequence for the first observations, I believe on Monday, so their initial exposures are already set, but of course we need to get them what we can for later observations.

We are very glad to be able to play a role in the acquisition of these spacecraft data.

U.S. Air Force awards grant for cislunar constellation to track spacecraft and debris

“If you rely on just one spacecraft, there might be a single point of failure for whatever reason,” Singh said. “But if you send a constellation out there, you have multiple measurements.”

Share LinkedIn Facebook Twitter Email As the stretch of space between the earth and moon becomes increasingly congested with satellite and spacecraft traffic, a new U.S. Air Force-sponsored project seeks to create a constellation of sensor-mounted satellites to increase visibility and help prevent c...

NASA Acting Admin Duffy Says SpaceX is Delayed on Moon Lander, NASA to Reopen Contract

“I think we’ll see companies like Blue [Origin] get involved and maybe others. We’re going to have a space race in regard to American companies competing to see who can actually get us back to the Moon first,” Duffy added.

NASA’s Acting Administrator Sean Duffy said that he is in the process of re-opening the agency’s Moon lander contract with SpaceX, saying Monday that SpaceX is behind.

Today is the day our interstellar visitor 3I/ATLAS is closest to Mars - "only" 29 million km (18 million km) from Mars in its night sky. Here is a blown up image that still shows the Psyche space - now 184 million km off.

Earth is way offscale, 373 million km (233 million miles) away.

In the night sky of Mars, 3I is moving at 0.6 arc seconds / second. If you were there, you might be able to see it with your naked eye, and it would be an easy binocular target.

First DiskSats to take flight in 2025

The Aerospace Corporation’s DiskSat is approaching a major milestone, with its first spaceflight demonstration slated for launch toward the end of this year. This mission, supported by NASA’s Small Spacecraft and Distributed Systems program, will be a critical step in proving DiskSat’s viability as a scalable platform that can be widely adopted and adapted by partners across the space enterprise.

DiskSat's first on-orbit mission will inform the development of small satellite architectures for longer-duration vLEO operations, opening new possibilities for commercial, civil and national security space applications.
