What makes hydroforming valuable for one piece construction?
Hydroforming uses controlled hydraulic pressure to form sheet metal around a plug, allowing complex geometries to be produced from a single blank. This approach can create deep, seamless components while minimizing material strain and eliminating the need for welded seams in the formed portion.

One piece construction can reduce potential failure points, simplify cleaning and polishing, and improve strength and longevity. How deep can a part be drawn in a single operation?
The answer depends in part on the draw ratio, one of the key variables used when developing a deep drawing process. The ratio compares the initial blank diameter to the punch diameter and helps determine whether a part can be produced in a single draw or requires multiple progressive drawing stages.
As the required depth increases relative to the part diameter, additional draws may be necessary. Each stage uses dedicated tooling to progressively form the material while controlling the amount of reduction from one operation to the next.
