Yet another roof claim that was “denied” by insurance….

Homeowner called me after having her roof claim denied by her insurance company.

I did a quick inspection, saw the damage, and went to bat for her.

A few weeks later we received notice that the claim was overturned and the payment was in the mail.

Moral of the story, don’t settle for a denial. Have a trusted expert take a look.

Hey Houston friends!

With this severe freeze and potential winter storm hitting this weekend, watch out for ice damming on roofs. It can cause leaks even without heavy snow.

What is an ice dam?
Ice builds up at roof edges/gutters. Warm attic air melts snow/ice higher up → meltwater runs down to colder eaves → refreezes into a dam → water backs up under shingles → leaks into your home.

Houston homes with poor attic insulation/ventilation are especially at risk during this hard freeze and wintry mix.

Quick tips to help prevent it:
• Clean gutters/debris now for better drainage.
• If safe, gently remove snow/ice from roof edges (use a roof rake—stay off icy roofs!).
• Lower thermostat slightly to cut attic heat loss.
• Long-term: Boost attic insulation/ventilation, seal leaks, or add ice & water shield.

If you see ceiling stains or drips during/after, it might be ice dam damage, address it fast to avoid mold/structural issues.

Stay warm, safe, check on neighbors, and limit travel if icy!
