As most of you may be aware, Northern Erie County was hit with a sudden and severe weather event last night that resulted in severe flash flooding across Amherst, North Buffalo, and the Tonawandas. Local public safety agencies were swarmed with emergency basement pump-outs, stranded motorists, utility cutoffs, and many other weather related emergencies.
Unfortunately, our office suffered a flooding event as a result of this weather.
With this in mind, there are a few things we would like to share with you about our next steps, and some key notes to keep in mind as we navigate this.
1) Our E-Scanner servers are stored and operated primarily out of our office. Luckily, the servers and other networking equipment are mounted well above the highest point of the water damage and were unaffected. Unfortunately, our power distribution and backup battery supplies were damaged as they were lower in our equipment rack. As of right now, E-Scanner remains operational, but is NOT equipped with an emergency power source until a replacement can be arranged.
We are looking to relocate our E-Scanner servers temporarily to minimize any further threat of damage or additional down time (more information on this later in this post). There may be sporadic service interruptions as we work on restoring and replacing our damaged equipment. We kindly ask for your understanding and patience with us as we navigate our way through this event.
2) Since our office is our primary point of service and sales for our customers, our ability to meet in-person has been severely diminished. Not only was our office affected, but our conference rooms, and neighboring businesses that share the space with us were also damaged.
Any scheduled *in-person* meetings are officially suspended/postponed until further notice. If you were a customer of ours with a scheduled meeting, we will be reaching out to discuss options with you. For anybody who was scheduled for a virtual meeting, we are still able to accommodate those, and will proceed as scheduled.
3) If any of you are current clients that have equipment in our possession for service, we want to reassure you that none of your equipment was damaged or involved with water whatsoever. All customer equipment is stored on high shelves/desktops and were promptly relocated from our office to our remote storage facility during the flooding event to prevent any potential damages or loss.
_____
As of right now, we are still currently in damage control mode. Regular service operations are on hold until we are able to stabilize the situation a little more over the next day or so. Normally, we would recommend giving us a call if you have questions or concerns, however, due to the magnitude of phone calls and text messaging our admin team has to handle with insurance, cleanup, logistics/operations, etc, we kindly request that non-urgent phone calls be avoided if at all possible. We have a readily available contact request form on our website (www.niagarasignal.com/contact) that goes directly to our team, or you can email us at anytime, and we will respond to you as promptly as we can.
_____
Lastly, as previously mentioned, we are looking to temporarily relocate our server equipment until we can repair/replace our backup power and power distribution equipment, and reduce unnecessary additional downtime. If any local fire companies, EMS agencies, Law Enforcement agencies or other public safety/services in the area would be willing to host our equipment for a few weeks, we would greatly appreciate it. You can contact us by phone at (716) 405-0201 or by email (listed below).
_____
Thank you, all, for your continued support of our small business. Things happen, but we'll make our way through it. Although we're in a tough spot, we still want to wish you a great rest of your day, and as always, Happy Scanning!
