As promised, here is part 2 of the Log Chain job that was one of the stops on the Pony Express up near Woodlawn, KS!
After we resurrected the barn, the Sourks asked us to tackle the original home on the property. When we first looked at it, we saw there were serious challenges in store. There was at least a 6" dip in the middle of the roof, and upon further inspection, we found that the main beam under the house was broken. It was literally a walnut tree log that had been dropped right there so many years ago, and eventually the weight of the house buckled it. With some handyman jacks and elbow grease, we were able to lift the center of the house back up and place a new beam under the house.
We replaced the roof and siding and rebuilt the exterior porches, and brought this historic beauty back to life. Thanks again to the Sourk family for trusting us with such a unique opportunity!
