The article published by tech crunch takes the audience interested in NovaXS from where we started to where we are now as a company. Created in the labs of UC Berkeley, Alina Su hopes to take the pain out of injections with a needleless needle.

This potentially revolutionary technology can push biologics into the body’s subcutaneous and intramuscular level within 0.3 seconds using liquid pressure alone. To streamline communication between patients and doctors the device also comes equipped with a cloud-based platform that collects information such as injection time, frequency, dosage volume, and the temperature of the medication.

The potential uses for this type of technology are virtually endless, but it is currently being used in vitro fertilization and drug delivery for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Every year UC Berkeley students as well as students from around the world compete in the SCET-Silicon Alliance Startup Contest. Since 2005, the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET for short) has created the foundation of Berkeley's entrepreneurship ecosystem including but not limited to SKyDeck, the Fund Institute, and the Engineering Leadership Professional program. SCET also believes team diversity is a key driver of success, and in order to encourage innovation and teamwork this competition was created. This contest allows competing students to pitch their ideas in front of a panel of mentors and industry experts for a chance to win up to $3,000 in funding for their startup. Along with a cash prize, the startups participating will receive valuable feedback from the panel of mentors as well as an opportunity to practice their pitch.

NovaXS is proud to announce that we have won first prize at this prestigious contest among twenty highly competitive teams. In order to participate in the competition, we at NovaXS had built up a diverse team as well as a well-prepared business plan and market strategy that gave us an edge in the competition. During the contest we were evaluated on our opportunities/ problem statement, our technology and innovation, our business model, and finally, our presentation and how well we handled the Q&A section at the end. With thorough preparation as well as efficient teamwork and a passion for our product we were able to win this competition and take one step closer to bringing our prototype to market.

NovaXS is proud to announce that we have received a formal offer of investment as well as acceptance into the mHUB Accelerated Incubation MedTech Cohort. The mHUB Product Impact Fund is designed to invest in the world's leading early-stage hardtech startups by raising capital as well as cultivating a dedicated entrepreneurial ecosystem that is focused on physical product innovation. NovaXS expects to set up a tremendous infrastructure that will support our intended growth and scale by utilizing world-class programming, $6M of prototyping equipment, engagement with industry partners, mentor support, and pilot programs. We are very much looking forward to our partnership with mHUB as they have a fantastic track record.

NovaXS is proud to announce that we have applied and been accepted into the SkyDeck PAC-13 Incubator Program. SkyDeck was formed as a partnership between the Haas School of Business, the College of Engineering, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research with the goal of creating a robust and vibrant ecosystem to nurture startups with the ultimate goal of helping them launch.

According to the SkyDeck website, their official thesis is that "[They] believe academic founders are brilliant, energetic, and a source of innovation that will fundamentally change our lives. [They] believe science has no territorial boundaries, and look forward to enabling change globally. The Berkeley SkyDeck Fund supports entrepreneurial activity through Berkeley SkyDeck, the world’s premier academic accelerator. It also supports research and education at the world's premier academic institution, by donating 50% of carried interest to UC Berkeley. . ." Roughly twenty Cohort startups are selected every six months to receive a $105,000 investment from the Berkeley SkyDeck Fund.

SkyDeck offers startups help in all areas of business as well as connects the startups to mentors, leaders in the industry and essential workshops. Help is offered in the form of product strategy (defining/redefining the product design and go-to-market for a capital-efficient growth strategy with meaningful competitive moats) team-building (identifying and recommending key candidates for advisory boards and early hires) and customer introductions (using UC Berkeley alumni network to make introductions to influencers and key buyers in almost any industry). Some notable success stories include Lime, Symb.io Robotics,SimpleData, and ThinkCyte.
