Indiana FFA Organization The Indiana FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential f The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America.

The Indiana FFA is a statewide youth organization of over 12,500 student members as part of 215 local FFA chapters in 90 of the 92 counties in Indiana. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. The Indiana FFA is a subsidiary of The National FFA Organization, which operates under a federal charter granted by the 81st United States Congress and it is an integral part of public instruction in agriculture in middle and high schools in Indiana. The Indiana State Department of Agriculture and provides leadership at the state level and helps set direction for FFA as a service to local agricultural education programs. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, as well.

Nearly 400 FFA & 4-H members competed in Saturday’s State Soil Judging CDE in Clay County!

Throughout this hands-on event, members evaluated four soil pits, assessing two for agricultural production and two for home site development. By examining soil properties, members applied their knowledge of soil science to determine the best uses for each site and make informed land-use recommendations.

Celebrating Two Incredible Leaders in Agricultural Education!

We are thrilled to honor Anna Ariens and Duane Huge. Next week, we will proudly watch them take the stage at the National FFA Convention as they receive their Honorary American FFA Degrees!

~Anna Ariens~
With more than 25 years of service, Anna has strengthened the connection between state and national FFA programs through her work as an educator, state leader, and development professional. Her leadership helped guide Indiana’s national award applications and contributed to a record-breaking fundraising year for the Indiana FFA Foundation—supporting thousands of students and educators statewide.

~Duane Huge~
Since 1985, Duane has transformed agriculture programs, expanding student engagement to over 400 enrollments and mentoring numerous new agriculture teachers through the MI‑BAT program. His students achieved 118 Indiana FFA State Degrees, 32 American Degrees, and numerous top national finishes—reflecting the excellence he cultivates in every classroom and chapter he supports.

These two outstanding leaders have devoted their careers to empowering students, strengthening communities, and advancing agricultural education. We cannot wait to cheer them on as they are recognized on the national stage next week!

The American FFA Degree is the highest honor awarded by the National FFA Organization, recognizing members for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to agricultural leadership.
