All utility billing and account questions are handled by customer service located at the Governmental Center at 400 Boardman Avenue, Traverse City, MI 49684. The intended purpose of this site is to serve as a mechanism for communication between TCL&P and members of the public. Users and visitors to TCL&P’s

Content posted by employees or board members of TCL&P that do not make it clear they are speaking for themselves and not on behalf of TCL&P by including a disclaimer such as: “The postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent TCL&P’s positions, strategies or opinions.”

TCLP will be performing underground fiber installation work at the intersection of South Union Street and West State Street on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

🕖 Work hours: 7:00 a.m. – approximately 3:30 p.m.
📍 Location: South Union Street south of West State Street

What to expect:
• Temporary closure of the center lane on South Union Street
• Two-way traffic will remain open using the northbound and southbound lanes
• The pedestrian crosswalk on the south side of West State Street will be temporarily closed
• Access to businesses will remain open throughout construction

Please use caution in the area and consider alternate routes to help reduce congestion and keep crews safe.

****Update as of 6/12/26: The cause was a failed surge arrester on the transmission line. Crews will be working to replace it and the two others on the pole as they are near end of expected life.

All customers affected by last night's outage should now have power restored. If you are still experiencing issues, please call TCLP's 24/7 dispatch line at 231-922-4940 for assistance.

The outage was caused by an issue with electrical equipment that required repairs by our crews. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our team worked to safely restore service.

TCLP currently has an outage affecting approximately 1,700 customers in the South Cass Street area between West Fourteenth Street and West South Airport Road, including portions of the Fernwood neighborhood. Customers west of Boardman Lake and south of downtown Traverse City may also be affected. A crew has been dispatched. At this time, we do not have an estimated restoration. Thank you for your patience as crews work as quickly as possible to restore all customers impacted.
