Our crews build the places Southern Arizona goes to unwind. Zoo habitats. Park facilities. Resort spaces people spend all year looking forward to.

Today the tables turn. The folks who built those spots get to enjoy them, whether that's a morning at the zoo with the grandkids, a cookout at a park ramada, or a whole lot of nothing in a lawn chair.

To every laborer, carpenter, operator, and foreman out there: thanks for the work you do all year. Go enjoy the day.

Because We're Local

Most contractors finish a job and drive away. We drive past ours on the way to school.

Eric, an estimator on our preconstruction team, brought his son out to Tanque Verde High School this summer. The project predates his time here, which is part of the point. Good work outlasts the crews that finish it.

Our families live here. Our kids go to school here. We work here. We live here.

That's The Lloyd Way.

Project Spotlight: Sierra Cycles

Two owners spent years picturing their dream dealership. Motorcycles, ATVs, side by sides, service bays, and parts, all under one roof.

Getting there meant working around a remote location and a tight budget. We served as both architect and general contractor, staged materials locally when delivery timing got tricky, and let the budget shape the design from the very first sketch. Nothing had to be cut later.

They got the dealership they had been imagining. That's The Lloyd Way.

Construction Myth: Value engineering means cutting quality

It doesn't. Cost cutting removes things: a thinner material, a downgraded system, scope quietly deleted so the number works.

We'd rather have a plan first. Value Target Design puts cost targets in front of the team while the design is still taking shape, so the budget and the drawings move together. When our estimators spot an opportunity, the owner sees the tradeoffs and makes the call.

That's The Lloyd Way.

Nobody puts up a plaque for the person who caught the problem before it became one.

Plan reviewers, permit technicians, building inspectors. The ones who ask the follow-up question and walk the site to check what's behind the wall before it gets covered.

Meeting code shouldn't chafe. We treat it as a chance to do better work.

Today is Building and Code Staff Appreciation Day. To everyone who helps keep our buildings safe, thank you.

What does a superintendent actually do? Think head coach of the jobsite, not calling plays from a distance, but out there every day in the middle of the action.

Our superintendents work on-site, walking the project daily to check materials before they're installed and catch issues in real time. They lead morning safety meetings, coordinate deliveries, and hold every subcontractor to the same standard we hold our own crews to.

Next time you see hard hats on a jobsite, know there's someone coaching it all to the finish line. 🏗️

One truck and a handshake started all of this.

Bill Lloyd Sr. founded Lloyd Construction in 1969 with a simple standard: do what you say, treat everyone with respect, and deliver real value every time. His sons Bill Jr. and Brad grew up on his job sites and lead the company today. A third generation is now coming up the same way.

Fifty-seven years later, the standard he set still shapes every project we take on.

Water, air, and soil meeting in a place you can actually study. That's what makes LEO special, and we're proud our team helped build it. Getting there meant moving steel trays through a 10 foot doorway with almost no room to spare, one piece at a time. Fifteen years later, Biosphere 2 is still using that space to answer big questions about our climate. Thanks for all of your hard work!

The LEO Bays help us unlock the secrets of our critical zones. These zones where soil, air, and water meet may not appear dynamic, but they are constantly evolving. With the LEO Bays, we can study how water moves, how microbes grow, and how nutrients shift within these vital areas. Sensors placed at the bottom of each LEO Bay allow us to monitor these changes and fluctuations over time. Through this knowledge, we gain a deeper understanding of our Earth and can take meaningful steps to protect critical zones in the future.

Behind the Build: How many inspections happen before a building opens?

More than most people would guess. The average build calls for about 5 to 12 municipal code inspections, and unusual projects need plenty more.

A velodrome track has to hit exact angles. A dental clinic has to place every chair and connection precisely. A sloth habitat has to match the temperature, humidity, and perching a sloth actually needs.

Different projects, same discipline. We prove it works before anyone walks in.

Project Spotlight: The University of Arizona's Intercollegiate Athletic Facilities

Building four projects at once next to McKale Center meant working around football and basketball seasons, daily athlete training, and students crossing campus. Our team and Breckenridge Group Architects / Planners kept everything moving and finished on the original completion date.

More than 15 years later, these facilities still deliver the courts, the pool, and the beams for a fresh group of students every semester.

Cheers to a new year, Wildcats!
