More opportunities for our Tribal Community to learn the construction trades!

The PYDC Career Pivot Centers are excited to announce that our longtime construction training partner, Tohono O'odham Community College (TOCC), will begin offering Heavy Equipment Operator Training at our center starting in August 2026.

TOCC brings a strong commitment to Tribal students and a longstanding dedication to post-secondary education and workforce development. TOCC President Dr. Stephen Schoonmaker (not pictured) and Jackson Doe, Director of Career Technical and Community Development (pictured), have worked to expand opportunities for technical and hands-on career training at the college.

We are proud to welcome TOCC to the PYDC Career Pivot Centers and look forward to continuing this important partnership to create pathways into high-demand careers for our communities.

Thank you, Seneca Media & Communications Center

Yesterday, the Housing Department (Allegany) hosted three visitors from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe located in Arizona. The tribe owns and operates Sonoran Pueblo Contracting (SPC), a subsidiary of Pascua Yaqui Development Corporation (PYDC), who with Kennedy Management, are building the new elder housing 4-plexes in Salamanca and Steamburg. The leadership of SPC came to check on the progress of the construction and to meet with us about the construction and to foster inter-tribal business and economic development.

One of the guests, Jesus "Boy" Sanora, who is chief estimator for Sonoran Pueblo Contracting, came prepared to make "street tacos" for the department , which are a are small, authentic Mexican tacos traditionally sold from carts or trucks, characterized by a soft corn tortilla filled with flavorful meats.

The PYDC attendees include Daune (pronounced as Dawn) Cardenas, Esq., CEO of PYDC, and Herminia "Minnie" Frias, who is PYDC Board President and a Council member of the tribe.

Sonoran Pueblo Contracting is proud to be working with the Seneca Nation of Indians in Allegany, NY and Steamburg, NY on their sovereign lands on a much-needed Senior Housing Project. The Nation is addressing an urgent need for housing, and we’re honored to be part of the solution.

We were grateful to have Pascua Yaqui Development Corporation President and Tribal Council Member, Herminia Frias, visit the Nation and tour the construction sites, where she met with Seneca leadership and administration.

A heartfelt thank you to SPC’s Jesus Sonora and Adam Kennedy of Kennedy Management for their exceptional professionalism and quality work—and to the Seneca Nation for their hospitality and partnership on this important community project.
