FreeFall Aerospace and ASU Partner to Support Student Learning and the SPARCS Mission 🛰️✨ Last week, a capstone thesis team from Arizona State University School of Earth and Space Exploration participated in live satellite operations at FreeFall Aerospace using an All Sky Antenna that will be delivered to ASU later this spring.

The system continues to demonstrate its capability to track and maintain downlink communications with LEO satellites and cubesats. During the visit, students observed four live passes, conducted performance measurements, and ultimately operated the system independently during one. In addition, students learned more about FreeFall’s product line and accomplishments, and participated in a facilities & laboratory tour.

This ongoing demonstration directly supports missions such as SPARCS, advancing university research while strengthening operational readiness.

The capstone team is now developing a comprehensive user guide for the All Sky antenna that will be installed atop the ASU SESE building later in 2026, ensuring sustained usability for future student researchers and mission teams.

By continuing to demonstrate the system in live satellite operations, our team at FreeFall is validating performance while giving students meaningful operational experience.

Collaboration between industry and university teams plays a critical role in advancing missions like SPARCS and strengthening Arizona’s space ecosystem.

We are proud to support student engineers and contribute to Arizona’s growing space ecosystem.

Last week, FreeFall Aerospace was honored to participate in the Southern Arizona Business Coalition Industry Day at Fort Huachuca.

The February 12 visit brought together commands and directorates across the installation to share mission priorities and explore how Arizona-based capabilities can support and enhance warfighter readiness.

We appreciated the opportunity to engage with leadership from:

• U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground
• Joint Interoperability Test Command
• U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence
• U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command
• U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command

The discussions were forward-looking and focused on real-world impact. As secure, resilient communication systems become increasingly critical to defense operations, collaboration between industry and Army leadership is essential.

We were proud to stand alongside fellow Southern Arizona organizations, including:

Precise Systems, Inc.
Darling Geomatics, Ltd
Foam Packaging Specialties
Edmund Optics
Critical Infrastructure Investments, Inc.
UA Venture Capital Fund
Radiant Dev
The University of Arizona
Blueridge Networks, Inc
Southern AZ Chamber of Commerce
JTED Foundation
Airtronics, Inc.
Black Fur Industries LLC
Arizona Technology Council
Applied Control Solutions, LLC

Southern Arizona continues to play an important role in national security innovation, and we are proud to contribute to that momentum.
