GET TO KNOW THE TEAM

Lead Story Designer Joey Madia is a Chautauqua scholar. Combining the skills of historian, researcher, and actor, Chautauqua brings history to life through a 45-minute monologue written by the performer, followed by audience Q and A as the character and as the scholar.

Joey has portrayed Captain Louis Emilio of the 54th Massachusetts regiment (part of the charge depicted in Glory); Ernesto "Che" Guevara, Mariano Vallejo, Allen Ginsberg, and Samuel Bellamy (as well as 8 other pirates of the Golden Age).

Joey is preparing to portray Cyrus "Father of the Mother Road" Avery for a tour in 2026 to help celebrate the Route 66 Centennial.
