Dave Curtis has been working with gas chromatographs since before...well...for a time that can be measured in decades.

Our VP of Technical Services joined Weldon Wright on the Oil & Gas Measurement Podcast to talk about exactly that — and about the school that has been training the industry's chromatography experts for 51 years.

In the episode, Dave covers:

- Why inaccurate composition data can cost more than inaccurate volume, and why a GC that looks fine on the board may not be

- Why this training isn't just for the people running the equipment (spoiler: it's for anyone who uses that data)

- What the School of Chromatography is doing to develop the next generation of experts before the current ones retire

The 51st annual School of Chromatography runs July 20-24, 2026 at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Wednesday was another busy day at our Board & Committee Meetings in Fort Worth, Texas.

The GPA Midstream Board held an in-depth discussion on the strategic issues shaping midstream and how GPA Midstream can help members address them.

Our Process Safety Subcommittee and Personal and Process Safety Committee met (on Thursday morning, as well), continuing their important work to deliver safe operations and protect employees, communities, and the environment.

We're looking forward to sharing more of the industry's safety stories as we head into June, which is Safety Month! Stay tuned.

GPA Midstream and GPSA issued the following statement in response to the recent Senate confirmation of Steve Pearce as Director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM):

"GPA Midstream and GPSA congratulate Steve Pearce on his confirmation as Director of BLM. We thank the Senate, Majority Leader John Thune, and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for action on the nomination. We appreciate Sen. Mike Lee for convening a nomination hearing in a timely manner.

BLM manages millions of acres of land and minerals in states where GPA Midstream and GPSA members operate. Pearce’s confirmation ensures leadership is in place at an agency advancing the federal government’s strategy to continue building reliable energy infrastructure, reducing permitting delays, and ensuring America can fully leverage its abundant natural resources.

We look forward to collaborating with Director Pearce and his team.”

The grid can't always keep up with the energy demands of hyperscale data centers and AI infrastructure.

That's not a new problem. But the solution might surprise people.

Former GPSA President Jeff Stake makes the case that midstream, the industry already built around delivering energy at scale, is the natural leader of large-scale BTM electrification.

We already have the experience, infrastructure, and system-wide visibility to deliver everything from molecules to electrons.

The concept at the center of it: BTU-to-Power (BTP) — a delivery model that lets energy move as fuel or electricity from the same resource.

GPA Midstream and GPSA issued the following statement in response to the recent Senate confirmation of David LaCerte to serve a new full five year term on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):

“GPA Midstream and GPSA congratulate Commissioner LaCerte on his confirmation to FERC. Our members operate and maintain the infrastructure that gathers, processes, and transports American’s natural resources. During his short time as a FERC commissioner, LaCerte has pushed to develop energy infrastructure to promote reliability and affordability.

GPA Midstream and GPSA believe LaCerte is well-suited to support the commission’s work because he has shown an understanding that our country’s infrastructure is unreasonably constrained, and that American homes, businesses, industries, and allies abroad have growing energy needs that can be met by expanding the nation’s energy infrastructure.

GPA Midstream and GPSA look forward to working with Commissioner LaCerte and the other FERC commissioners to meet the world’s increasing demand for affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy.”

Two former Democratic officeholders just published a piece in The Well News calling out both Trump and Senate Democrats on energy.

Former Sen. Mary Landrieu and former Gov. Terry McAuliff criticized Trump for killing offshore wind projects already under construction. And they called out Senate Democrats for misdiagnosing why electricity prices are actually high.

It's no secret that rising energy costs are a source of pain for every American. Residential electricity prices have climbed 20% since 2021.

The Senate Democratic "Broken Promises" report places part of the blame on record American LNG exports. That would make sense if the pain were spread evenly across the country.

But it isn't.

New England and California are paying three times the national rate of price increases. The states actually hosting LNG terminals, like Louisiana and Texas, have some of the lowest electricity prices in the country. Massachusetts imports LNG and pays double what Louisiana does.

What do you think? Is the real story about infrastructure, not exports?

Trump is wrong to kill renewable projects. Democrats are wrong to block natural gas infrastructure. The answer is an all-of-the-above energy abundance strategy. Americans don’t need a report to know their electricity bills are rising. They see it around their kitchen tables every month. Residentia...

It's hard to build trust with someone who doesn't know you're in the room.

Sponsorships for the 2026 GPA Midstream Convention are selling fast, but a few prime spots are still available — including Passport Prizes and the Meeting Program.

Public Hospitality Night is one of the most social evenings of the convention. Attendees move through every hospitality room collecting passport stamps for a chance to win prizes awarded by random drawing at the end of the night. As the exclusive Passport Prizes sponsor, your name is at the entrance, in every room, and in every winner's confirmation email. GPA Midstream handles all purchasing and distribution.

The Meeting Program sponsorship puts your brand on the pocket-sized convention schedule that will be in the hands of virtually all attendees.

Both opportunities include logo placement on the convention website, in the printed program, and in the Midstream Go app.

The convention runs Sept. 20-23 at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter. Sponsorships are first-come, first-served.
