2026 Miller Mountain Trail Challenge!
Milnes Companies was proud to again be one of the sponsors for the Annual Miller Mountain Trail Challenge held on Saturday, May 9th, 2026. This year's event will again be sharing some of its proceeds with two local organizations: The Countryside Conservancy and the Wyoming County United Way. The day’s weather was chilly and rainy, but participants were mostly all smiles for the planned 25K and 5-mile Run/Hike. The Jurista Farm, at the base of the mountain, served as the starting and ending point with several volunteer organizations setting up Aid Stations across the course. Additional vendors were also on hand serving food and offering race related merchandise. Many thanks to all the local businesses that supported this event and to Carefree Moments and Jade Photography for documenting the memories of this amazing day.
Our own Joe Reese, from our Engineering Department, placed 7th overall, bettering his time from last year by more than thirteen minutes. Joe also completed a 50K trail race in Hyner, PA on April 18th! With plans to complete additional trail races this year…You Go Joe!

Overfield Township Waste Water Treatment Plant;
Phase One is well underway. The crews have completed one of the two lagoon rehabilitations and have begun work on several additional supporting structures.

What we are looking for;
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Construction experience preferred (but not required for laborers)
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
• Valid driver’s license is a plus.

Responsibilities May Include:
• Concrete placement and finishing
• Tying rebar
• Framing, formwork, and general carpentry tasks
• Finish carpentry, trim, and millwork
• Water/wastewater equipment installation and pipe work
• Site preparation and cleanup
• Operating basic hand and power tools

Did You Know….?
Mick Goodwin, the leader of our Engineering Department, recently took over leading another group with a long and storied tradition in our local community. This year, Mick took over the Tunkhannock Area School District’s Boys Volleyball Program. The program was in desperate need of a rebuild and Mick decided to get back on the court where he once starred. Mick also coached the Girls Volleyball team at Tunkhannock for 20 years and coached within the baseball program for nearly 15 years. We wish Mick well, as he digs in, and sets up the Boys Volleyball for a successful season!

Milnes Surveying

Surveyors are known best for identifying and marking property lines, but they must also be good historians, to accurately solve boundaries. The pictures below show the evolution of counties in Pennsylvania, along with a Warrant Map of Wyoming County. These Warrant Maps were created by the PA Land Office in the 1700’s to identify original land purchases from the Commonwealth. They normally display the original land owners name, acreage, and the tract of the property in its neighborhood alongside surrounding owners. Does anyone recognize any of the founding family names shown on the Tunkhannock segment?

Milnes Surveying was grateful for the opportunity to work on this beautiful and historical property within the Tunkhannock community! We are glad to see this piece of the local history being preserved for future generations to enjoy.

We're so happy to share that we recently had Milnes Engineering, Construction & Surveying do a survey of the The Metcalf Mansion property.

As we've shared from day one, we care deeply about being good neighbors and want to make sure that we fully understand our boundaries!

As you can imagine, it was a bit tricky for the surveyors to complete their task with extended freezing cold temperatures AND excessive snow fall...yet they did it! 😊
